5th North Finchley Brownies

The 5th North Finchley Brownie pack meets at the Shul during term times every week. It has been running for 30 years, and caters for girls aged 7-10. They enjoy a varied programme based around the Girl guiding programme, centred on You, Your Community and Your World.

The girls have opportunities to make new friends, learn new skills and are encouraged to think for themselves. They can gain badges for such wide ranging activities as fire safety, first aid, world cultures, dancing, number skills and many many others. Because we are strictly limited to the numbers we can have in the Pack, please put your daughter’s name down on the waiting list as soon as she starts school.

5th North Finchley Guides

The 5th North Finchley Guide pack meets at the Shul during term times every week. It has been running for many years and caters for girls aged 10-14. They enjoy a variety of activities based around the Girl guiding programme. There are 6 theme awards that the girls can achieve which are all equally important as they represent different areas of a girls’ development. They are:

  • Know Myself: Girls explore emotions and learn about themselves. They’ll look at what they enjoy, build confidence, and discover how feelings affect behaviour.
  • Express Myself: Girls develop their creativity in all sorts of ways. They’ll make up stories, create inventions to solve problems, start thinking laterally and teach creative skills to friends.
  • Be Well: Girls learn how to stay healthy and how to help others when they’re hurt.
  • Have Adventures: Girls have the chance to overcome fears, try new activities and learn survival skills. Getting outside and having adventures has always been an important part of guiding.
  • Take Action: Girls build skills to make a positive difference, whether in their community, the wider world or with the people they know.
  • Skills For My Future: Girls investigate what they might like to do in the future and how they can grow their life skills.

As girls complete the theme awards, they have the chance to earn their section bronze, silver and gold awards.

Alongside the awards, the girls will have opportunities to make new long-lasting friends, learn new skills and develop their confidence and independence. They will have the opportunity to go on camps every year, sleeping under canvas, creating and cooking on open fires as well as taking part in fun campsite activities such as rock climbing, archery, high ropes and more.
